Putting Local People first
fighting for the interests of local residents

We believe that local councillors should represent their local area with no interference from a central party. We do not have a party whip- all of our councillors vote in whichever way they see fit.

Who are Rushcliffe Independents?

We are a party of independent councillors from all political backgrounds.

Each of our councillors are fully independent, with no instructions from central party.

We believe that local politics should be about local people representing their local area, not following instructions from a distant party HQ.

We formed in early 2023. Within months, we won two seats at the borough council in Cotgrave and winning the rural seat of Cropwell.

We are looking for new candidates for the 2025 county council election and 2027 borough council election.

Following a series of Freedom of Information requests, Rushcliffe Independents have uncovered that the Rushcliffe Conservatives wasted £9,597 of taxpayer money…

“Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics”

At the March 2024 Rushcliffe Borough Council budget meeting, Cllr Birch and Cllr Chewings exposed the Conservative Party for their misleading statements about council tax rates.

Far from being the lowest, Rushcliffe’s residents pay the highest council tax in Nottinghamshire and higher tax than 96% of the country.
